Solar America Initiative: Technical Exchange Meeting

The Department of Energy Solar Energy Technology Program (SETP) is convening two (2) Technology Acceptance Technical Exchange Meetings to facilitate external contributions to planning for the Solar America Initiative (SAI). Technology Acceptance encompasses the key non-research and development (R&D) activities of SAI. The overall mission of SAI is to achieve cost-competitiveness of solar energy technologies by 2015 across all market sectors. The mission of the Technology Acceptance side of SAI is to reduce market barriers and promote market expansion of solar energy technologies through non-R&D activities.

The Department of Energy is holding two meetings in order to accommodate more participants. Although they will be held on different dates and in different cities, the two meetings will have the same structure and objectives. The Technology Acceptance Technical Exchange Meetings are open to participation by all external organizations. Registrants may choose to participate at either or both of the following dates and locations:

Monday, June 12, 2006

National Association of Home Builders Conference Center

1201 15th Street, NW

Washington, District of Columbia 20005

Friday, June 23, 2006

Moscone Center

Moscone West exhibit hall building

800 Howard Street

2nd Floor
San Francisco, California 94103
*Held in conjunction with PCBC 2006, Homebuilding's Premier Tradeshow and Conference; www.pcbc.com

These meetings complement the Technical Exchange Meeting that was held in Chicago, Illinois, in April, 2006. That meeting covered the Technology Pathway Partnership R&D portion of the SAI.

The objective of the SAI Technology Acceptance Technical Exchange Meetings is to obtain input from stakeholders on the Technology Acceptance issues and strategies of the Solar America Initiative. DOE welcomes representation from all sectors, including State and local governments; Tribal nations; builders; non-profit organizations; unions; utilities; the financial, educational, solar and insurance communities; and individuals. These meetings will focus on the discussion of critical issues whose resolution will have a significant impact on shaping both the initiative and the resulting SAI Technology Acceptance solicitation. The key mechanism used to accomplish this objective will be breakout sessions that encourage maximum stakeholder participation.
