PHEV Value Propostion Workshop

December 11-12, 2007
L'Enfant Plaza Hotel, Washington, D.C.

 Agenda

DOE has tasked the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) to perform a study of potential business models that will reduce consumer cost and increase consumer value to assure a sustainable market for PHEVs that can thrive without the aid of Federal incentives or subsidies.  This entails

  • identifying potential value-added benefits and financial strategies for PHEVs,
  • evaluating PHEV worth to various stakeholders, and
  • determining what technologies PHEVs and their supporting infrastructure must have to take advantage of the added benefits.

ORNL hosted this workshop in December 2007 in order to brainstorm potential business models or strategies that could lead to PHEVs that are widely competitive with conventional drive vehicles.  The business models developed in this workshop were assessed for viability, and those with the greatest potential viability are currently the subject of a more extensive study.
