Shipping/Bringing Materials Into the Building Please do not ship materials directly to the Cannon House Office Building. The Cannon House Office Building is not equipped to accept freight and will refuse your shipment. Please send your freight to Freeman Exposition Services to ssure proper handling, delivery, and security clearance. Provided your exhibit materials will fit through the security machine at the entrance (17” x 25” – similar to airport security machines), you may hand-carry materials into the Cannon House Office Building on the morning of the expo. To avoid security problems on-site, please contact Shawn Polk at 240-223-5537 if you plan to hand-carry hazardous materials (e.g. methanol) or other questionable items (e.g. fuel cell models, large metal tanks). Please allow ample time to clear security. If your booth will not fit through the security machine, you may still gain access on the morning of the Expo, starting at 5:00 a.m. through the Rayburn House Office Building loading dock, by first going to the off site delivery center (at Delaware and C Street, SE just behind the Rayburn) to have your vehicle and freight swept. Again, to avoid security problems on-site, please contact Shawn Polk at 240-223-5537 if you plan to bring hazardous materials or other questionable items (e.g. fuel cell models, large metal tanks). Please allow ample time to clear security. Exhibitors who need the use of the dock must be aware of the local Union regulations which require the use of Teamsters to handle freight in excess of what an exhibitor can hand-carry in one trip without the use of a dolly or a cart . Overtime rates will be in effect during set-up/breakdown. Security As home to the offices of U.S. Congressional Representatives from several districts, the Cannon House Office Building is subject to heightened security after 9-11. Exhibitors should bring a valid photo I.D. and plan to allow ample time to clear security. Exhibitors who plan to bring hazardous materials or other questionable items (e.g. fuel cell models, large metal tanks) should be aware that some items might be rejected on-site, regardless of prior clearance. We make every possible effort to insure that all exhibits clear security on the morning of the Expo, but even when following standard protocol, there are no guarantees. Please have a contingency plan should one of your display items be rejected. The best way to insure that all items clear security is to follow the following standard protocol:
